Overview
PM Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana was launched by the Government of India to promote rooftop solar installations in residential households. The scheme provides Central Financial Assistance (CFA) to eligible consumers for installing rooftop solar systems.
Eligibility Criteria
- Indian citizen/residential consumer
- Must have a roof suitable for solar panel installation
- Valid electricity connection with a DISCOM
- Not availed subsidy for rooftop solar earlier
- Group Housing Societies (GHS) are also eligible
Subsidy Structure

Application Process
- Register on the National Portal (pmsuryaghar.gov.in)
- Login with your credentials
- Fill in the application form with consumer details
- Select suitable system capacity
- Choose an empaneled vendor from the portal
- Vendor installs the rooftop solar system
- DISCOM inspection and net meter installation
- Apply for subsidy disbursal
- Subsidy credited to bank account (~15 days)
